Brit developer in property scandal

THE disgraced ex-Alcaucin mayor and a British developer have been charged over land abuses.

‘Flamenco’ mayor Jose Manuel Martin Alba is accused of handing out illegal licenses for four houses to be built on protected land in El Espino.

Seprona – the environmental protection arm of the Guardia Civil – also charged a British developer with fraud after selling three illegal homes in the area.

He had unlawfully divided up a plot of land into eight smaller sites, three of which he has already sold with homes on.

A lawyer, architect and construction company – who all worked in tandem with the developer – have also been charged.

In the summer, the Olive Press reported we reported how – after 130,000 euros were discovered under his mattress – mayor Alba planned to ditch politics to pursue a singing career in flamenco.

And three months ago we revealed that he had been ordered to explain where 200,000 euros from the sale of a plot of land he presided over when mayor disappeared to.
