Spanish Police’s YouTube video for most wanted art

Spanish Police’s YouTube video for most wanted art

TWO of the world’s most wanted stolen paintings are Spanish and the hunt is on to find them.

‘El Santero de la Cofradia’ by Sorolla was stolen in April last year from the Museo Benlliure in Valencia.

And ‘Le Pigeon aux Petits Pois’ by Malaga born Picasso, was stolen in May from the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, along with three other paintings including the ‘La Pastorale’ by Matisse.

Now, the Spanish National Police have released a YouTube video with images of the most wanted paintings, some of which were taken nearly 20 years ago, in the hopes of tracking them down.

The list of big names includes Velázquez, Van Gogh, Matisse, Rembrandt and Cézanne.

And according to officials, although it is difficult to establish their exact value, the missing paintings would certainly fetch an ‘extortionate’ sum on the black market.
