• SUSPICIOUS: Fire burnt Lineker’s Bar |
LINEKERS Bar in Fuengirola has become the target of a suspected arson attack.
Serious damage was caused to the bar, part of a Europe-wide chain owned by the brother of TV presenter Gary Lineker.
According to a source at the bar, the fire was suspicious and police are investigating local hooligans.

Gary Lineker
“We have been told that he tried to light a fire to keep warm and that somehow this caused the building to go up,” he said. “Someone apparently saw him running away.”
The group of builders had to work around the clock to get the bar open in time for Easter. The first Linekers Bar opened in Tenerife in 1988.
It has a close association with Gary Lineker, who later became England captain.
Now part of a huge chain, the Fuengirola branch opened in 1994.
