THE Via Verde de la Sierra, which goes from Olvera in Cadiz to Puerto Serrano in Sevilla, has been voted as the best Greenway in Europe.
The route, which runs along a railway line that was never finished, won the award for promotion and tourism development at the ceremony in Belgium.
The 36 kilometre route that runs alongside disused railway lines, boasts 30 tunnels, four viaducts and five old stations.
