MRI among ‘villains of 2009’

A COSTA del Sol property company has won a dubious accolade in the Daily Mirror’s run-down of the heroes and villains of 2009.
Darragh MacAnthony’s company MRI was recognised for its ‘heavy-handed response’ after accusations that it ripped off customers.
The Mirror claimed clients paid MRI thousands for furniture that never arrived.
However, the company responded with a bristling statement. “I have forwarded your latest query to our lawyers Carter-Ruck,” it read. “I believe they are already dealing with matters relating to your previous queries and publication.”
Meanwhile MRI Overseas Property Limited has recently gone into voluntary liquidation. But it was a UK subsiduary “that we never used”, insisted MRI.
Also in liquidation is MRI TV ltd, owing 300,000 euros, as well as MRI Media, owing around 560,000 euros.

MRI = Massive Ripoff International
It begs the question how many other “subsiduaries” do they have that have “never been used”. It could well take years for this all to come out, but at least the main stream press are onto it now.
Adios to another rip-off agency, like Interealty and Viva before them. Another one bites the dust …
well as the company was never used it begs the question why work contracts for the staff were issued in its name and staff were employed under english law not spanish .
mri overseas property limited was the name on every work contract they issued
Let us hope the English legal system thoroughly investigates MRI…
Even among realtors, this company always had the reputation of being rip-off merchants. Nothing new, but glad to see peple can openly talk about it.
