Raymond Carr awarded for Hispano-British relations

HIS history books feature on university reading lists in both Spain and Britain.

Today top British scholar Sir Raymond Carr – who is also celebrating his 93rd birthday – will collect a prize for Hispano-British relations from Santander Bank.

The judges said Carr was a ‘pioneer, innovator and promoter’ of Spain and that his contribution had helped ‘bring Spain out of its isolation’.

Carr’s work covers Spanish history from 1700 onwards, with a particular focus on the Civil War and Franco’s dictatorship.
