THE row between the Gibraltar Government and Spanish fishermen has escalated after a breakdown in talks.
The Government says it is willing to continue dialogue in an effort to avert ‘dangerous and counterproductive’ confrontations at sea.
But representatives of the fishermen insist they will continue to fish in Gibraltar waters ‘with or without the Government’s approval’.
“Despite the break up of discussions, the Government remains willing to engage the Spanish fishermen,” said a government spokesman.
