A BRITISH man accused of killing his mother has been arrested after allegedly knifing a woman to death in Spain.

Sean Heiss was detained after the middle-aged woman was stabbed in the street in Barcelona.

The 28-year-old is wanted for extradition to the UK after his mother, Margaret Sheehy, 58, was strangled to death in London, in June.

A police spokesman said: “A 28-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of a woman who was stabbed to death in the street in Barcelona.

“She was rushed to hospital by ambulance but died from her injuries a few hours later.

“The suspect was arrested near the scene.”

He added: “We discovered after his arrest he is wanted for questioning on suspicion of murdering his mum and was the subject of an international arrest and extradition warrant.”

Heiss is believed to have been arrested in San Sebastian on June 18 for allegedly threatening a hostel worker with a knife, but was released on bail before the extradition request was filed.
