THIS summer has been cooler than any in recent years.
The warm summer winds typical of the season have been replaced by colder easterly winds, keeping the temperatures along the coast an average of 1.5 degrees lower than normal.
According to data just released by a meteorological centre in Malaga, on the hottest day of this month (July 10), temperatures only reached 35.5 degrees, surprisingly mild for this time of year.
According to the director of the centre, some people have even been phoning in to ‘complain about how cold it is.’
In Andalucia, this means lower water temperatures as well.
Though this may be less than ideal for some bathers, it has also had the effect of lowering levels of jellyfish as well.
I’ve got the central heating on.
we have the extra heat here I think which is nice but in the uk the beaches are horrible, the sea is grey, we dont have chiringuitos we have chips, burgers and other rubbish, restaurants are not sure how to deal with food in this heat
so a bad stomach is common, shops turn their air con down to save money, and the bins are full of maggots due to weekly or fortnightly bin collection. lovely

with our grandson for a week in August. A short walk around the headland is a passenger ferry to Padstow and fresh fish and chips on the harbourside. Sounds glorious and less than 150 miles from me in the west of England. However the weather is very unreliable hence we love Mijas Costa with the warmth and the al fresco life. Mind you a week in the caravan sets you back nearly €1000
