BULLFIGHTING enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that TVE will be showing their favourite fights.
This is only the second time, in six years, that the spectacle has been shown live. The fights were taken off air in 2010, due to them being inappropriate viewing material during children’s viewing hours.
However, the people of Merida will be switching on, on September 1.
Broadcaster TVE had adhered to the rules, and banned events from being filmed – due to animal cruelty. However, it changed its policies to be able to show the occasional bullfight.
Last year’s free-to-air event attracted some 1.2 million viewers, an audience share of 12.7 percent audience.
Spain’s animal rights group PACMA on Tuesday issued a statement denouncing the decision by TVE to broadcast the Merida event.
In the statement, the group said bullfights were an act of gratuitous violence with a negative influence on children, and that the events had no place in Spanish society or on Spanish public television.
Fantastic news. Live programs featuring camp ballet dancers trying to act as manly as possible whilst torturing dying animals. What’s the difference between cheering bulls being tortured, and something like animal rights footage of people laughing whilst playing baseball with chickens. They’re having a great time enjoying killing animals too?!
Of course it’s back, the government needs as much distraction away from their total mess of an economy lol.
I doubt many Britons will be affected – they all watch Sky!
