THE giant carcass scared holidaymakers when it washed up on shore this week.
The Architeuthis Dux squid measured 30 feet (with tentacles extended) and weighed nearly 400 pounds.
It has now been delivered to the Maritime Museum of Cantabria, where the decision will be made for it to be displayed or dissected,
The squid is a rare find, this type is the largest invertebrates on earth, and usually stay at depths of between 1,000 and 3,000 feet.

“The animal died at sea and ocean currents brought it to the coast,” Talledo said to GrindTV. “The squid was in good condition except one [tentacle] had been broken.”
Eeeek!!! Fried calamari anyone? Imagine finding this in the local fish market stall. Its not for human consumption though due to it having some sort of ammonia in its flesh, or so I have read.
There is a museum somewhere up north where they have quite a few specimen on show. I wonder what will happen to this particular one. It doesn’t look as if its been dead long and in quite good condition judging by what’s left of the brown skin on it. Has anything else been heard about it? I have read that the sperm whale is its biggest predator. What a Battle of titans that must be!
Amazed the locals didn’t eat it lol.
