TENNIS star Rafa Nadal has apologised after accidentally tweeting the death of former South African president Nelson Mandela.

He was caught out after reading a fake tweet from someone claiming to be CNN journalist Piers Morgan.

The message read: “Today we lost one of the most important and relevant people in our world. Rest in Peace Nelson Mandela.”

Spanish Nadal quickly rectified his mistake, saying he had false information and hoped Mandela would be around for a lot longer.
