SPAIN and the UK have joined forces in fighting organised crime in an effort to stop British criminals fleeing the country and finding safety abroad.

The Costa del Sol is traditionally a haven for British fugitives but this new move will make it easier for Spanish police to tackle them and confiscate assets.

Home Office organised crime minister Karen Bradley met Spanish security minister Francisco Martinez Vazquez in Madrid to agree the important collaboration.

British criminals are known to move vast sums of money overseas where it is harder for law enforcers to reach them, but now the two countries will draw up a list of priority cases to tackle.

On top of this, a new asset recovery specialist from the Crown Prosecution Service will be posted to Spain and a Spanish liaison magistrate stationed in the UK.

This cooperation will strengthen the success of Operation Captura, a campaign launched in 2006 and run jointly by the National Crime Agency and the Crimestoppers charity, which has seen 58 out of 76 named criminals on the run in Spain arrested and brought to the UK.

  1. ‘Organized crime minister’ – ‘a new asset recovery specialist’ – very well paid and pensioned positions for parasites – why can’t this work be carried out by existing functionaries, I forgot there must be jobs for the girls and boys paid for by us mug tax payers.

  2. They can move vast sums as they bribe their way through all & sundry.

They should start with the Hacienda who are sitting with people taxes on illegal builds.

You have one idiot trying to catch dole money and another chasing his tail to stop fugitives.

I think it must be boys winter escape to the sun on tax payers expense as they cant fiddle their expenses to have a holiday.

    Just want to throw up.
