MCDONALDS is to extend its breakfast hours in Spain in a bid to lure in more customers, as part of a €4 million investment in the country.

The breakfast menu will soon be served until midday, 1pm at weekends, across the country to fit in with the nation’s later dining habits.

The fast food chain traditionally serves breakfast until 10:30, but said it’s Spanish stores have suffered because Spaniards tend to opt for a mid morning snack, rather than an early breakfast meal.

Its will also offer a more Spanish menu, including pastries and sweet snacks.

The publicity campaign includes getting its 23,000 Spanish employees to sing a song in order to highlight the fact that 40% company’s breakfast products suppliers are Spanish.
