EXCLUSIVE: The mystery cartel – including Vladimir Putin – behind purchase of Spanish palace

RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin’s Costa del Sol mansion appears to be co-owned by five other wealthy businessmen.

The Russian leader may have joined forces with a mixed group of Indian, Russian and Arab investors in the €19 million palace project in Benahavis, near Marbella, according to Olive Press sources.

The ten-bedroom home is nearly 90% complete with Putin reported to have visited the coast over Easter to inspect the project.

Local estate agent Scott Marshall told the Olive Press, “I was informed via a very reliable international real estate contact in London, that it was bought by six wealthy men, one of those being Putin.”

The agent, who has worked in the small Costa town for over a decade, added: “But it is always going to be very difficult to prove because it is bought through a company.

“The Spanish builder told me it was being built by an Indian millionaire, but of course he could be one of the six and maybe the builder doesn’t even know himself.”

He continued: “Either way, it’s the biggest project we have ever seen. They have even bought extra plots and built a guest house.

“The builders have been working around the clock to get it finished.”

More speculation has been emerging in the Spanish press today about the house being bought by Putin in Spain’s most expensive development, Zagaleta, a haven for wealthy businessmen and celebrities.

Owners in the exclusive enclave have included Rod Stewart and the mayor of Moscow, while Hollywood star Hugh Grant rented there two years ago.

The Olive Press first broke the story 18 months ago.

In October 2012,we reported that ‘a wealthy Russian politician’ – thought to be Putin – had secured the purchase of the palace project in the heart of Zagaleta estate.

Sitting on an 18,000m² plot, the project boasts its own spa and gym, a cinema, piano bar, heli-pad and two swimming pools.

The epitome of extravagance, it has 10 bedrooms with spectacular views towards Gibraltar, North Africa and inland to the Serrania de Ronda.

The president of the Andalucian Federation, Ricardo Arranz, said: “There is no confirmation, it is a rumour that has been going for some time but we have no proof.”

  1. Socialist? This mob? Since when? That’s like calling Uncle Joe Stalin a Communist. Russia is now, effectively, a dictatorship. The Top Jolly of which, is now, one of the proud owners of the worlds poshest timeshare.

  2. stefanjo,
I remember seeing an American using Nazi Germany as an example of how socialism does’nt work – you could’nt make it up could you.

Russia never was a Communist State it was the first State Capitalist controlled society, brilliantly emulated by State Capitalist China today.

A good way to evaluate any society is to ask the simple question – is big business a function of society or is society a function of big business – in the case of the UK and the USA we all know the answer.

  3. Is THIS a new surprise… the Officials and others have good, rich friends – newsworthy as businessmen who paid for the past Luxury yacht as a “gift” for King of Spain, et al.

  4. @Fred, never play bingo and never use aliases, but do pay my taxes, do you being a self confessed law breaker on OP. Tut, Tut, must be the smartest so called Ph.d I know. Would that be a Ph.d in fiddling.

  5. @Caccia, you are catching up on the posts too, I mean you are the master of the “multiply blog reply” don’t forget lol.

Anyway, you did say you played bingo, and as everyone knows, you were also caught red-handed using multiple blog aliases – classic Internet troll behaviour. I know you don’t want to keep being reminded of that, but people have a right to know what a real troll looks like, and it looks like you.

Still sleeping tight here btw; you have just had very bad financial advice Caccia. And I’m so glad that, at long last, you finally acknowledge that I have a PhD. Thanks.

  6. Hi. Is that just ‘rumours’ or did Vladimir Putin buys a very expensive La Zagaleta mansion close to Marbella, what V. Putin still denied ?
By the way sanctions punish russian citizens, no problem for V. Putin.
