DISGRACED celebrity publicist Max Clifford has been removed as vice patron of UK children’s charity the Rhys Daniels Trust.

The convicted paedophile is well-known on the Costa del Sol for his work with the charity, including the annual ‘Max Clifford Celebrity Golf Challenge and Butterfly Ball’.

The star-studded event is a key feature of the Marbella social calendar, held at the La Cala resort in Mijas.

Last year’s event raised €42,000 for the charity.

This year it will be known as the ’20th Anniversary Golf Challenge and Butterfly Ball’.

Clifford became the vice patron in 2003, after dealing with press enquiries and publicising the charity since 1994.

He was this week found guilty of eight counts of sexual assault, between 1966 and 1984.

The Costa del Sol regular sexually abused a teenager he met in Torremolinos while she was on holiday with her parents in 1977.

Another woman, now 43, claimed to have been molested by Clifford in a Jacuzzi in Calahonda when she was 12 years old.

Clifford, the first person convicted under Operation Yewtree, is due to be sentenced later today.

He is shown in the picture with Costa del Sol journalist Mike Souter, also convicted of child sex offences and sentenced to 22 years in prison in October 2013.

  1. This will put Michael Senker’s nose out of joint – he ran the charity that Clifford chaired and defended Clifford stoutly and even had him host the Butterfly Ball AFTER he had been charged with these offences.

  2. They obviously join these Charities to try to divert attention from their real personas. Max Clifford – 2011. Made PR ambassador for Children in Need.
Kate Mccann – 2012. Made ambassador for Missing People. You couldn’t make it up.
