IT’S all over for Spain’s title defence as they lose 2-0 to Chile in the 2014 FIFA Word Cup Group B match at the Estádio Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

After Spain’s humiliating 5-1 defeat by Holland in their opening Group B game, they were beaten again by a well-organised Chile team.

Eduardo Vargas’ goal gave Chile a surprise lead after just 19 minutes. And Charles Aranguiz made it 2-0 after 42 minutes.

Chile have never beaten Spain in their ten previous encounters.

Just a couple of weeks ago Spain were people’s favourites to retain their crown and lift the World Cup once again.

  1. spain still has a decent national basketball team and tennis. But they couldn’t touch Chile at all last night and it was glorious!!! The true red won that match.

  2. During the World Cup the Spanish and the English teams visited an orphanage in Rio de Janeiro. “It was so heartbreaking to see the sadness and hopelessness in their eyes!” – said 5 year old Joao.

  3. The England team visited an orphange in Brazil today. ”It’s heartbreaking to see their sad little faces with no hope,” said Jose aged 6.

Spain have done really well in recent years so at least they have some recent good memories.
