SPAIN is demanding answers after the shooting down of a passenger jet over eastern Ukraine.

The foreign ministry described its ‘consternation and profound sadness’ over the crash of the Malaysian Airlines plane, believed to have been shot down yesterday in pro-Russian separatist territory.

“Spain hopes an investigation can explain the circumstances of the accident as quickly as possible,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

It also expressed condolences for the families of the 298 victims – said to include ten Brits.

Barcelona-based Vueling airlines has said it will divert flights away from the airspace at which the supposed missile launch took place.

The Boeing 777-200, en route from Amsterdam Schiphol to Kuala Lumpur, was reportedly shot out of the sky at 33,000 feet, by what US officials say was a Russian-made surface to air missile.

But Russian President Vladimir Putin has laid the blame on Ukraine.

He insists the tragedy would never have happened if the Ukraine government had not escalated the war.

Among the victims were 154 Dutch, 27 Australians, 23 Malaysians, 11 Indonesians, nine Britons, four Belgians, three Filipinos and a Canadian.

  1. Yep- and just because the SAM was made by Russia it doesn’t mean the Russians fired it. Both sides on this conflict are using weapons bought from Russia, or left over from the time when Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union. Tragic.

  2. So, if he was ex-CIA it would be alright then as they are entirely trustworthy and they are very good at ‘rendition’ of entirely innocent people – grow up and stop spouting American propoganda.

Until there has been a complete examination of all material everyone should keep their mouths shut about why this plane crashed.

Rather, intelligent people should be thinking about who gains from this slaughter. Certainly not the Russians or the Russian insurgents but boy how it suits those who now run Ukraine.

  3. Lyn,
are you trying to say that the US/western Europe/Australia have been telling the truth – you don’t work for Homeland Security do you.

Why did Kiev order the plane to fly 200 miles north of it’s intended route? Why was a jet fighter shadowing the airliner – do bear in mind that the Russian seperatists don’t have any jet fighters but Kiev do!

Why have the Kiev air traffic records mysteriously vanished, whilst Russia has published it’s records.

Why did’nt the world demand sanctions against the US after it blatantly shot down an Iranian airliner in 1983 that was flying in Iranian airspace. Far from bringing charges against the US navy personnel for this terrible crime,( it was no accident they meant to shoot down this civilian plane)they actually gave the murderers medals.

Care to comment on these facts Lyn/Homeland Security/Jones – rational fact based answers only please.
