Tarifa property worth more than exclusive Marbella

TARIFA’S rapidly rising real estate prices are giving Marbella a run for its money.

The beach resort on the Costa de la Luz has more expensive property prices per metre squared than in Marbella, which costs 1833 euros per metre square.

Tarifa, where it costs 1840 euros per metre square, has seen a rapid increase in property prices in recent years, and is only topped by Cadiz city in Andalucia, according to the latest official figures.

Tony Cassidy, 66, of Tarifa Direct, insists that not only is the town now level-pegging with Marbella and Mallorca, it will also give Ibiza, Madrid and Barcelona a run for their money in terms of demand and price.

“It is one of the true dynamos of Spain and demand is incredibly high,” explained Cassidy, from Leeds in the UK.

“We are just waiting for a big developer like Taylor Wimpey to arrive here and things will really take off,” he added.

“I have a villa for sale with a tennis court and swimming pool near the Punta Sur hotel for €3 million, which in Rosario, near Marbella, would be worth just €1.5 million.”

But it is not luxury mansions that are drawing buyers to Tarifa, but the lifestyle.

“Yes you get less for your money, but you have the most amazing countryside and beaches.”

  1. Now just steady on. I for one do Not want Tarifa overrun with crap ! I understand your an estate agent but go and do your estate agency in the areas that are destroyed by overbuilding and leave my beautiful Tarifa alone .

  2. I hope that big developers do arrive and spoil what is a wonderful coast line. The reason we visit is to get away from the over build of the Costa Del Sol. There are too many empty properties and developments that need to be sold before we build any more.

  3. As far as I remember Taylor Wimpey or another big Brisith developer had already plans to built lots of houses outside of Tarifa around 8 years ago. It was in the press then and on their website. I remember looking at the plans. No idea why it never went ahead. It was supposed to be on the empty land opposite Dos Mares, former ferry parking lot, where they had the bird fair the other year. I read about it back then….

  4. Unfortunately Tarifa is earmarked for many new future building developments. It should be left well alone; its natural beauty is its own selling point. We don’t need any more new homes with 2 million+ empty ones already unoccupied. Taylor Wimpey should bugger off.
