Spanish priest seized in El Salvador for aiding gang members

PROTESTS are currently raging in the Castilla-La Mancha town of Daimiel, after the imprisonment of one of their natives in Central America.

Father Antonio Rodriguez has been detained in San Salvador – capital of El Salvador – for allegedly smuggling mobile phones to gang members in prison.

The Daimiel-born activist has dedicated his life to turning the lives of gang members away from delinquency in crime-ridden El Salvador, which has one of the world’s highest murder rates.

Back home, the Spanish town is hosting marches to protest the arrest of their beloved ‘Father Tono.’

More than 300 people participated in the demonstration, including the town’s mayor, Leopoldo Sierra, and one of the priest’s protégés, former gang member Isamar Orellana.
