Balearics government launches UK press campaign against sex and alcohol tourism

THE Balearic Islands government is cracking down on sex and alcohol tourism by launching an advertising campaign in the British press.

Spearheading the campaign is the Balearics’ tourism councillor Jaime Martinez, who wants to end the recent sexual misconduct and drink-spiking culture that continue to colour the Islands’ reputation.

Though the campaign is already spreading on social media sites and will be in the tabloid press by the end of the month, Martinez announced a special collaboration with the annual World Travel Market in London this November.

The goal of this partnership is to utilise contacts that the international tourism event bring together – including the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) and the British press – to get the message out.

Turespana, Spain’s national tourism organisation, the Spanish ambassador in London and the UK Foreign Office have all given their support to make Ibiza, Mallorca, and the other Balearic Islands a more attractive holiday destination.

  1. What message? Don’t go to the Balearics for sex and booze? Ibiza won’t even admit that rape/spiking goes on, let alone do anything about it.
Be interesting to see how much slack the culture vultures take up. Or perhaps the bucket and spade brigade can be persuaded to eat more ice-cream.

  2. This needs to change the people living there shouldn’t have to put up with this all these changes they talk about need to follow through starting with this summer season the more it’s swept under the carpet the worse it will get
