SERIOUSLY ill Ashya King has left Malaga’s Materno Infantil hospital and will be flown by private jet to Prague this morning for potentially life-saving treatment.

An ambulance took the five-year-old and his mother Naghmeh to Malaga airport at 8.13am.

His father Brett followed in a taxi as his son was lifted into the ambulance.

Ashya will now receive specialist treatment at a hospital in the Czech Republic, where he is expected to receive a course of chemotherapy  before being given proton beam therapy.

Family lawyer Juan Isidro Fernandez Diaz said: “Ashya is fit to travel. We’re going to Prague.”

Ashya spent the last eight days in the Malaga hospital, after his parents discharged him from Southampton General Hospital in order to get him proton beam therapy.

A spokesman for the Malaga hospital said: “The Materno-Infantil Hospital confirms that the British youngster Ashya King left hospital first thing this morning with his family.

“He travelled by ambulance to Malaga Airport, which he has departed from in an air ambulance bound for Prague Hospital with all the guarantees regarding the care this youngster needs for his current medical condition.

“The hospital said regional health chiefs and hospital bosses had spent the weekend finalising the details of the move with the family – and Malaga’s British Consul and local youth court officials had been kept informed every step of the way.”
