Game of Thrones production likely to return to Andalucia while Sevilla plans to cash in

A GAME of Thrones producer has confirmed the crew could return to Andalucia next year while Seville plans to organise guided tours of filming locations.

According to Peter Welter, an executive producer of ‘Game of Thrones’ through Malaga Fresh Films, HBO is so satisfied with all the help given to the production team by Andalucian government authorities that they are considering shooting more episodes there next year.

He was particularly thankful to the Junta, Sevilla’s and Osuna’s councils as well as Andalucia’s and Sevilla’s respective Film Commissions, saying that filming would have been impossible without their hard work and support.

Although Welter explained that Spain presented high production costs compared to countries such as Croatia and Morocco the 15% tax rebate offered to foreign film productions is quite attractive.

Meanwhile Sevilla’s Tourism Minister, Gregorio Serrano, recognised that the filming of the adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s series, A Song of Ice and Fire, presents a ‘great opportunity to be seized’.

A guide book covering places where filming was undertaken is being prepared and there are plans for guided tours both of which are meant to promote the city to the series’ extensive fan base.
