HOLD on to your helmets cycle fans, next year’s Vuelta a Espana will be speeding out of Puerto Banus.

The three-week world-famous cycling race around Spain will begin in the glitzy port in 2015, with four additional stages expected to be announced in Andalucia.

Homegrown hero Alberto Contador will be hoping to hold on to his crown after his comprehensive victory in this year’s competition.

The full route is set to be unveiled at a press conference in January in Torremolinos.

  1. I for one can’t wait to welcome a load of drug-taking cheating cyclists to our area. To have the roads painted by attention-seeking idiots and for the roads to be closed. This must be the most corrupt and cheating “sport” in the World yet we are supposed to be happy it is coming to a town near us. Watching lines of cyclists wend their way through the countryside and a hundred of them finish in the same position after 2 hours. What kind of sport is it that you can just tag along and finish 2nd minutes after another rider who also finished 2nd! Wake me up when it has gone away. Yawn!

  2. Hi, please can you help? I intend to surprise my husband by booking a hotel near to the finish of stage 7 of the Vuelta 2015, so we can enjoy the action first hand. I have looked on several websites and there seems to be some confusion whether the stage ends at Capileira, Capilleira or Capilerilla? Please can you confirm which one it is, or what would be even better, if you can confirm the route will pass through Pampaneira. Thank you so much for your help. Gail Humphreys
