SPAIN’S National Police have uncovered €87,000 buried in an orchard in Alhaurin de la Torre.

Police linked the cash to an organized criminal group which specialise in home robberies in Malaga, Benajarafe and Coin.

The gang’s five members have now been arrested in connection to at least 10 burglaries in the province.

The police operation, called Fly, began thanks to the information provided by an anonymous security guard.

As well as stealing cash, the gang primarily sought technical gadgets and jewellery to sell quickly on the black market.

A €150,000 robbery in Coin last month is amongst the criminal groups list of high profile heists.

  1. Derek,
as you love Spain so much and defend everything about the country, good or bad – why do you not live in Spain. We all know you only have a holiday home in Spain – so, why are you still living full time in the UK and not in Spain – this time answer the question or or go away – you are just a sad abusive troll and you should be aware that abusive trolling is now a criminal offence and since you live permanently in the UK it is very possible that anyone can report you to the police.

  2. @Derek, I’m just telling you what I hear from people and what I read in the local press. Did I, at any point, say that I can’t stand the people of Spain? Did I say crime was unique to Spain? No. You are so wide off the mark in your comments that I sometimes doubt if your brain functions properly.

  3. I wonder why all you people got so fuzzy with this Mr. Derek you all people know that living in Spain is kind of ridiculous think, bad laws not bad cops, but corrupted system that will never change, you can not even start a new business there there are some nice people but many are hatd to put up with, so keep just considering Spain as a vacation place, maybe for retirement but for living there just to avoid the cold no, I am sorry but Spain sucks all the way around!

  4. Hi all. I am ex UK born but moved to New Zealand 26 yrs ago, then moved to Thailand few yrs after my wife of 46 yrs died. I re married 6 yrs ago and we are moving to Spain Valencia area and will open fashion shop/s. I lived in Palma for 4 yrs just before moving to NZ. Then Spain was great before they went into EU and Franco was still around. The people were great lot of Robber going on but mainly by the Gipsys. I had an 60ft launch with Spanish charter license no problems, it was so cheap then.
I went to the coast and Madrid in June 2014 to check it out and loved it. My wife and I are going for 1 month in April to decide where to open our first shop, Denia or Javae. We will make up our own minds after the first year.
