Duke of Palma facing 19 years in prison

THE Duke of Palma, Inaki Urdangarin, is facing 19 years in prison for embezzling public funds.

The prosecutors have asked for a combined prison sentence of more than 100 years for all the defendants in the Noos case, which includes Urdangarin’s former associate Diego Torres.

The defendants stand accused of collectively misappropriating €5.9 million of public funds, money laundering and perverting the course of justice.

However, the prosecutor has found no proof that Infanta Cristina, the Duchess of Palma and sister of Spanish King Felipe VI, is connected to any crimes.
