THE autopsy of the three-year-old boy found dead yesterday in Malaga has revealed ‘drowning by submersion’ as the cause of death.

The Guardia Civil has also confirmed that the boy’s step-father, Antonio F.A, remains in custody and may be suffering from mental illness.

Police are now trying to locate the 23-year-old’s movements from 3:30pm on Monday, when he picked up the child from the nursery and 5:20pm when he reported the child’s disappearance in a commercial centre.

It is believed that the man may have been suffering from depression following relationship problems with his wife.

Police have also questioned the mother but no charge has been brought against her.
