Guardia Civil police officers launch English language motoring website

Crime guardia civil traffic

Crime - guardia civil trafficMEMBERS of the Guardia Civil’s traffic department have launched an English-language website to keep the country’s expats informed of what’s happening on the roads.

Police officers publish traffic related articles on the site each day, alongside road laws explained and other information.

With articles ranging from road offences to tips on how to save at the pumps, more than 7,000 people have already liked the site’s Facebook page.

“The idea was to provide accurate information to foreign drivers as to both the rules of the road here in Spain, as well as changes to the law that they may not be aware of,” Guardia Civil traffic officer Francisco Morales told the Olive Press.

“Our overall concept is very much in its infancy, and we are hoping to develop audio and video podcasts shortly to further enhance the user experience.

“At the end of the day we want to help keep residents, visitors and holidaymakers that little bit safer when they are on the roads in Spain.”

  1. They are very informative and don’t restrict themselves to just Spanish traffic law but also publish changes in UK law. Plus they post some funny stuff all good for improving relations.

  2. Is it possible for the Gaurdia Civil to extend their information service? It would be appreciated if this could be extended to the N340 particularly between Torre del Mar and Malaga!

On a local basis, we could all certainly help with their ‘Law Enforcement!!

    Regards.
