AROUND €1,300 million set aside for Guardia Civil training courses is unaccounted for.

Judge Mercedes Alaya – renowned for her uncovering of the ERE scandal – had originally estimated that €950 million was unaccounted for between 2002 and 2011.

But now that she has received all the paperwork she required that figure has gone up by over €300 million.

Alaya order the arrests of 16 politicians connected to the Junta in March in connection to the embezzlement of public funds.

Fourteen of those arrested were former Junta employees.

The two who remained in office – economy minister in Sevilla, Aurora Prieto, and in Huelva, Eduardo García – have now been suspended by Junta chief Susana Diaz.

Other former officials arrested include seven former employment delegates, four former CEOs and three  ex-regional delegates in Almonte (Huelva) and Mijas (Malaga).
