Virgen del Carmen celebrations underway in Andalucia

Virgen del Carmen
TIME FOR SARDINES: Around the Virgen del Carmen festival

Virgen-del-CarmenVIRGEN del Carmen celebrations are underway across Andalucia.

Religious wooden and porcelain Virgins are placed on fishing boats and paraded through the seas.

Accompanied by a flotilla of fishing boats, usually including a brass band, fireworks are set off from the boats as the sun goes down.

Celebrations vary from town to town.

In Malaga, the procession takes place not only on July 16, but on the following Sunday.

While in Estepona a fish-net weaving competition took place earlier today.

  1. Catholic/Protestant – it’s all deluded worship of the Greek invented sky pixie syndrome but of course only the seriously egotistical/dysfunctional idiot is right – discard all belief systems and grasp reality. Of course to do that you have to accept total responsibility for all you say, do and think – not for cowards.
