UNEMPLOYMENT: People queue outside an employment office

JUNE was a good month for the Spanish economy with unemployment falling by about 94,000, according to a statement by the Ministry of Employment and Social Security.

The decrease makes June the fifth month in a row that the Spanish unemployment rate has fallen.

The new number of unemployed workers is around 4.1 million.

And a grand total of 47 of Spain’s 50 provinces saw their unemployment rates drop in June.

Unemployment has decreased steadily since 2013, when it reached an all-time high of almost 27%.

The National Statistics Institute (INE) reported a national unemployment rate of about 23.8% in the first quarter of 2015.

However, Spain’s unemployment is still the second highest in the Eurozone, trailed only by Greece while the rest of the zone averages 11.1% unemployment.
