ONE of Britain’s most wanted criminals has been arrested in San Roque in the province of Cadiz.

Guardia Civil officers located Stephen Michael Shaw in Taraguillas after the British authorities put out a search warrant for the wanted man accused of at least 30 violent robberies.

The 41-year-old was arrested after routine inspections across the area’s hostals revealed his whereabouts.

Shaw checked into his accommodation without using a false identity and made no measures to avoid being tracked.

Police located the accommodation and awaited Shaw’s return to arrest him, he was taken to Madrid where he awaits judgment from its Juzgado number 4.

Shaw’s photo appears appears on Crimestoppers web page which appealed with a €1,400 reward to catch ‘one of the UK’s most wanted criminals’.

The south Yorkshire man is believed to be a prolific burglar responsible for the theft of thousands of pounds’ worth of property from around 30 burglaries with accomplice Stephen Berry, 43, also wanted by Crimestoppers.

  1. There’s a far better & more humane way practiced by a lawman in the USA. Once jail time is sentenced, the party concerned is accommodated in a tent (its very hot in that area), has to wear unbecoming clothing & do hard labour. Food is just “adequate” but they do get TV (to comply with the regulations) but they can only receive the weather channels. Strict discipline is enforced & apparently absolutely nobody that’s served time in these conditions, wants to chance going back. If they moan, they’re told the conditions are similar to those they could expect whilst in military action. A world apart from the relatively luxurious conditions found in British jails.
