THE parents of brain tumour patient Ashya King have been slammed for putting their son ‘at risk’.

Brett and Naghmeh King have been deemed ‘irresponsible’ for discharging Ashya from a UK hospital and fleeing to Malaga by a child services report.

The six-year-old has since made a promising recovery following proton beam therapy in Prague and his family have moved back to the UK.

The Portsmouth Children Safeguarding report supported staff at Southampton General hospital where Ashya was being treated.

However, they added that there was evidence that the relationship ‘deteriorated over time’.

“This resulted in the parents removing their child from hospital, without discussion with medical staff, in order to take him abroad where they thought they would be able to access the services that they considered best met his needs,” it added.

“This action put him at risk.”

  1. Face-saving comments by the powers-that-be. Maybe it’s a coincidence that the Christie Hospital in Manchester (world renowned), now has a proton beam therapy unit within it’s premises.
Wonder if that would be the case if the Kings hadn’t drawn attention to it’s lack in one of the wealthiest countries in the world?
We were told at the time, that those machines weren’t particularly helpful.

  2. Ha Ha shows how corrupt this system is ..the hospital that wanted to help him by going to give him treatment that prob would have left him brain dead . should be shut down ,thank goodness the parents had the sense to get him out off there .. The Portsmouth children safety board better go and get jobs in MacDonald’s or Pound-land .bunch of idiots

  3. I do’nt think the system is corrupt, before we all jump on the bandwagon, who paid for all this. Most of us have to be put on a waiting list & WAIT. Or do we get preferential treatment if we are on benefits. If I recall they lived in Spain & returned to the UK to try & jump the waiting list. I hope that if I did the same I would get preferential treatment.
