Dog abuse malagaA CAMPAIGN to remove a dressed-up dog from his homeless owner has been launched in Malaga.

The owner is accused of forcing his dog to wear sunglasses and a police cap, and also placing a studded collar around his neck to stop him from moving.

The spikes on the collar allegedly dig into the dog’s neck when he moves, allowing his owner to keep him in check as a street performer.

More than 10,000 people have signed a change.org petition addressed to Malaga town hall, following allegations of animal abuse.

  1. Can anyone send me a link to where the petition is on change.org. i cant find it.
and could someone put the collar on him, and rescue the dog….why do we have to collect signatures, why has no one got the power to take the dog, in full view of 1000s of people everyday hes causing pain and suffering to a defensless creature and no one can do anything….what sort of society is Spain.

  2. I f there is any suspicion that an animal is being mistreated as obviously poor Horro is the Police or an appropriate authority should have the power to immediately take the animal from the owner and place it in an approved sanctuary until a court order is obtained If found guilty the low life owner should be named shamed and punished preferably by methods used in Saudi Arabia

  3. Carolyn: This is Spain, not some animal Nirvana. The “appropriate authorities” don’t give a toss about dogs, bulls, donkeys, vultures, or any other dumb critter. Not sure if Saudi Arabia would give a toss either.
Forget petitions and “authorities.” Direct action is the answer, take the animal away from the bearded fool, he’s hardly likely to complain to the “authorities”.

  4. What I find wierd is, in Spain there seems to be loads of vet practices. Why when the Spanish treat animals so badly. Dogs on tiny balconies in the sun, birds in tiny tiny cages left on balconies, kicking horses and donkeys, poisoning cats. Throwing dogs and cats in the bins, dragging dogs behind cars, hanging unwanted working dogs, abusing animals in full view, and then theirs all the fiestas and animal killing/abuse, the list just goes on and on……….

  5. I lament say that my compatriots have a lack of sensibility or empathy about animals, and i don´t find any excuse.

Probably this will go better with education and campains of sensibilitation. Similars to the campains against bullfighting.

Only I can ask you for denounce to the authorities the cases of mistreatment to the animals that you´ll see. In some cases those mistreatment can be punished with imprisonment
