TARRAGONA: 13 people have been killed and more than 30 have been injured in a coach crash

A BRITISH teenager crawled through bus wreckage with a broken back to escape the horror crash that killed 13 students.

Tallulah Lyons, 19, was one of 34 people injured in the crash in Tarragona, yesterday.

Tallulah, a student at the University of Southampton, currently studying in Spain, explained how she crawled past the bodies of her classmates.

“But I’m alive and well with just three broken vertabraes and a broken chest bone but I will make a full recovery,” she said.

“I just remember waking up and people were on the floor.

“I was trying to crawl out with friends – and that’s when we realised some people were trapped. It took about two hours to get everyone out.”

Two Irish students were also injured while on their way back from the renowned Fallas fireworks festival in Valencia.

Seven of those killed in the crash were from Italy, while all were aged between 19 and 25.

The other victims were made up of two Germans, one Austrian, one French woman, a Romanian and a woman from Uzbekistan.

  1. Why did the bus veer off the road? alcohol from the firework fiesta in Valencia? driving too fast for conditions? some other innocent explanation? After our own bus experiences, we take trains or car pool with people we know.

  2. Using inter-city buses we remember so well how the Spanish would look at us as if we were crazy when we fastened our seat belts, hardly ever saw anyone else use them.

A bus crash in France left several children dead and again, hardly ever do we see the French use seat belts either.

I wonder how many of those who died were not using them in the coach but would’nt hesitate to use them in a car.
