Dramatic increase in Irish people taking holidays and buying properties in Spain

In January and February of this year there were 20% more Irish travellers than the same period in 2015.

In fact, Spain ranked second only to the UK for Irish tourists, according to the Central Statistics Office.

And Taylor Wimpey Spanish house sales to Irish buyers also increased by a massive 200% compared to last year.

  1. Could it be that these “Irish” buyers are actually people who have gained Irish passports (using their historical right to apply for one) in order to remain a member of the EU, in light of a possible Brexit?
    It is something I have seriously considered, having Irish grandparents. There has recently been a surge in this type of activity. It could be quite beneficial to have dual nationality, (having a foot in either camp.)
