A GIANT shark terrified holidaymakers as it swam up to the shore at a popular Spanish tourist destination.

Onlookers captured the predator on their phones as it swam near the Port of Palma in Mallorca.

Police were called and reportedly tried to get a noose around its neck, but failed.

Authorities had to use boats to direct the animal back out into the open water.

The sea monster was later identified as a blue shark, who can grow up to 11.5ft long.
