med dietJUNK food does not increase the likelihood of a heart attack when eaten alongside a healthy Mediterranean diet, new research claims.

The study, published in the European Heart Journal, followed 15,000 heart disease sufferers across 39 countries.

It discovered there were three fewer heart attacks, strokes or deaths per 100 people who ate a classic mediterranean diet – fresh fruit and vegetables, oily fish and olive oil – than those following any other, irrespective of junk food intake.
