THE stepfather of missing expat Amy Fitzpatrick is to be sentenced later today.

Dave Mahon was found guilty of killing Amy’s brother Dean in a knife fight in Dublin, Ireland.

The 23-year-old received a stab wound to the abdomen outside the apartment that his mother, Audrey Fitzpatrick, shared with Mahon.

The prosecutor argued that the 45-year-old former Mijas resident was drunk and ‘deliberately’ thrust the knife intent his stepson with ‘deadly intent’.

However, the jury sided with the defence, which argued that Dean Fitzpatrick had ‘walked into the knife’ while they were arguing.

Therefore Mahon will be sentenced for manslaughter, not murder. The maximum sentence for manslaughter in Ireland is life imprisonment.
