dual citizenshipTWO British journalist have started a petition that asks the Spanish government to offer dual-citizenship to Brits who have lived in Spain for more than 10 years.

Journalists Giles Tremlett and William Chislett initiated the petition.

“We estimate there are around 25,000 Brits born Spain or who lived and worked here for more than 10 years (generally the required number of years for those seeking Spanish citizenship) might take up the offer. We want to be Spaniards, Europeans and British,” Tremlett and Chislett said.

As of this writing, 12,168 people have signed the petition, 2,832 short of its 15,000 signature goal.

  1. Should have been five years, more economically beneficial to the Spanish economy but I guess the two journalists involved were only thinking of the time they have spent in Spain. By the time of Brexit I will have been in Spain for ten years but only held a residencia for two since the rule change. Proving I have been here longer will be a nightmare as it will be for many

  2. Thanks for the coverage.

15,000 is not our goal.We do not have one.
We will let the petition run until September.
