EU-FLAGA NEW poll has shown that Europeans want Britain to be punished in the Brexit negotiations.

While an Ipsos Mori survey of people from 16 different countries found that 49% of Brits were sad about their departure from the EU, some of their closest neighbours are hoping to serve them their ‘comeuppance’.

The French were the least upset by the divorce with only 25% saying they were sad to see Britain leave.

But to add insult to injury, they had the most amount of people who think the UK should be given an ‘unfavourable’ Brexit deal, with 39% believing it will discourage other exits.

Belgians came a close second with 34%, while 30% of Spaniards and 28% of Italians also believe Britain should be punished.

Some 43% of Italians are ready to boycott British goods, the most inclined to do so, followed by the Spanish with 37% and Germans on 33%.

Some 56% of Brits said the UK should be given a favourable deal.

Adults aged under 65 were quizzed online in Belgium, France, Britain, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Spain, and Sweden.

    • They would react with a huge belly-laugh, watching Britain cut off it’s nose to spite it’s face.
Something like sixty percent of British food is sourced from abroad, mostly the EU. So we would then be held to ransom by those lovely “Commonwealth” countries instead.

  1. I agree Lewis, imagine if we punished the Germans by not buying their Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, VW, Audi, Opel cars, Spanish with their wine and Brits stopped holidaying, Italians with wine, holidays, cars, fashion etc, I can understand the French being least concerned as we must spend lots in France with most of the above. I would imagine Brits might then think twice about buying Spanish property as well, Spain has more to lose.

As for polls, or should I say hot air, well how many were asked, its like Bernard saying recently most young Brits voted to remain when in fact 64% couldn’t be bothered to vote?

  2. Mike, you are correct in what you say, and people tend to forget the UK has a debt trading with the EU of approximately 70 Billion. So who has the upper hand here. The UK is also getting underlying messages from certain prominent EU members that appear to be favourable for a free trading agreement but at least we shall be free from the EU and will be in a position to trade with the rest of the World.
The problem is there is so much waffling on this comment page which does not solve anything, so many if’s and but’s and nobody knows the outcome until Theresa hits the button and when she does I think you will find she will do so when she feels the UK has achieved certain goals in the negotiations with the EU, but at least we will not be controlled by Brussels. .

  3. I doubt of the veracity of the poll. It is absurd to think in punish some one for this decision.

If there are some one that wants to boycott th british products, the only reason is ignorance.

Nobody can be against the sovereignity of the British people.
