A BRITISH expat has been rescued from his Spanish home after laying on the floor for three days without food or water.

The 69-year-old man was found semi-conscious at his apartment in El Campello near Alicante.

He was found after his neighbour became concerned after not seeing him for a few days.

After police failed to find him in the local hospitals, they contacted the British Consulate to see if they knew his whereabouts.

Having no luck, they sought a warrant to enter his fifth-floor flat.

Officers found the man on the floor, unable to speak.

In recovery he explained how he had fallen days earlier.

He is currently in intensive care in San Juan hospital and is expected to recover.

The pensioner resides in Spain alone, with all of his family living in the UK.
