la linea policeA SPANISH killer has been convicted for shooting a disabled man in the face at a cock fight.

The man – named only as AFC – will be sentenced for murdering Jonathan del Rio in La Linea next week after a jury found him guilty.

While prosecutors are calling for a 20 year sentence, AFC’s defence is pleading for a four year sentence due to the convicted killer being intoxicated.

AFC and del Rio became engaged in a heated argument after an illegal cock fight, an Algeciras court heard.

According to a witness statement, AFC owed del Rio €25,000 from the fight.

Wheelchair-bound due to serious injuries sustained in a motorbike crash years before, del Rio was shot in the face and the back of head as he tried to flee on December 30, 2013.

AFC then drove off with another man before spending New Year’s Eve with his family in Fuengirola.

Appearing in court as a protected witness, AFC accused his friend of carrying out the shooting.

However the witness told the court that AFC carried out the killing and then threatened to kill him if he squealed.
