HUNDREDS of Spanish families have launched a campaign to reclaim Cuban property snatched by Castro.
At least 260 are currently being represented by 1898 Company, an organisation founded to help Spaniards whose homes and land were expropriated after the communist revolution.
Jordi Cabarrocas, 1898 founder believes they are owed an estimated 2.34 million and is now helping them collect evidence to strengthen their claims.
He also wants to persuade 400 other families he believes were also deprived of their property to join the campaign.
The foundation insisted the families involved are more concerned about ‘gaining justice’ rather than financial gain.
“Snatched by Castro” And who did these families snatch the properties from?
The vultures are circling, the Mafia will be claiming for their lost casinos and brothels next.
How come this Cabarrocas guy of the 1898 founder is not fighting the cause of the thousands of ex pats over their property rights in his own country first. It’s a laugh really.
There were plenty of decent, modest, people from Spain who went to Cuba before 1959 when then Castro and his thugs came to power, and who made an honest and fair living. They had opportunity in Cuba to improve their livelihoods and did, and they did not either exploit, steal or upsurp – even if a minority did. They certainly did not deserve to have their hard-earned property or assets expropriated, and yes, Castro DID SNATCH from these people, and what often enough they could not snatch they went out and destroyed, physically. This is not about helping organized crime recover their assets, but about giving justice and restitution to the thousands of immigrants who went to Cuba in good faith, often to have a new and prosperous life, and who in the end became the victims of a bloodthirsty new regime intent on doing away with the ancien regime, no matter how many innocent as well as guilty people would be alienated, dispossessed or killed. That is the true legacy Castro and his hooligans left to Cuba! Good riddance to Fidel and his scum! !Hasta Nunca!

Telling the same lie twice doesn’t make it any more true Adrian. The majority of native Cubans wanted rid of these Spanish invaders, otherwise a small rag-tag bunch of rebels could not have prevailed against so many. To airily dismiss the Mafia, who ran the country, as irrelevant, is to wear blinkers.

Spain left Cuba in 1896. Castro revolted against the corrupt (american backed) cuban government. The Spanish people claiming back their homes and busnesses were mostly refugees from Spain after the civil war. So hardly the oppresive conquering invaders. Many returned to Spain pennyless after a lifetime of work.
