SPAIN’S agrarian sector increased by 5% from 2016 for the second consecutive year totalling €49.2 billion, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Animal production continues to dominate compared to weaker vegetal data numbers, part of which was caused by an increase in wildfires and drought this year.

The data showed that the best performance in terms of value was observed in pigs (up to 10.2%) and poultry meat (up to 11%) but also in the value of the eggs (up to 25.3%).
