MADRID’S firefighters have turned to electric to help reduce pollution across the city.

The fire service has added 19 electric vehicles to its fleet which can travel 167 kilometres on a single charge and take just 30 minutes to fully recharge.

It is estimated the move will save €18,000 and reduce emissions by 50 tonnes while the total cost of the fleet came in at €660,000.
