WALKOUT: New Year Strikes could affect hundreds of flights and thousands of British holidaymakers

RYANAIR is to invest $200 million (€162m) in Palma de Mallorca airport this year.

This comes as a result of the low cost carrier basing two additional aircraft at the airport.

The Irish company will now have a total of 10 planes in total based in Palma.

Six new routes are also set to be added to the summer schedule including Luxembourg, Nuremberg, Strasbourg and Stuttgart, as well as Berlin and Dusseldorf both for the first time.

In total 53 routes will be available for Palma passengers this summer.
