Bigger fines for using your mobile phone while driving in Spain

USING your phone while driving is set to carry a heavier punishment in Spain.

It comes after it was revealed that distractions at the wheel are the leading cause of death on roads, more so than alcohol and speeding.
The DGT wants to give drivers more points for recurring and dangerous traffic violations.

It comes as the Guardia Civil in Albacete warned drivers that throwing a cigarette butt through the vehicle window will incur a fine of €200 and a loss of four points from your driving licence.
