RETURN: Bullfighting in Marbella

BULLFIGHTING could be returning to Marbella despite being BANNED since 2015.

It comes after the town hall announced it is setting aside just over €1 million for the refurbishment of the Plaza de Toros with the goal of ‘making it safe, practicable and operational for its intended use’.

The project has been put out to tender, with companies having until December 30 to declare their interest.

And according to Spanish media, the tender document details resurfacing the ground of the bullring with traditional powdered stone and replacing and repairing the boards around the bullring.

The project, which hints at the bloodsport’s return, comes despite the previous administration banning bullfighting in 2015.
