The Brit has been living in Gib since March and had an expired passport, and was travelling without money when he vanished.
Search teams have combed extensive areas of the upper Rock, the town centre and coast, in a bid to find James.
An RGP statement said investigators had also checked CCTV at the frontier, in case he ‘may have crossed to La Linea’.
The UK and Spanish authorities have been assisting search efforts, while the Gibraltar Defence Police has also been drafted in to help.
An RGP spokesperson said: “Regrettably at present, the extensive search has not yielded any
positive result or clue as to Mr Johnstone’s whereabouts.”
